Salt-Tolerant: Your Inner Child
A poem to her.
Today I found myself again,
If only for a little while.
She was dancing,
childlike playing in the sea.
Swept away in soft currents
and sand clouds, knee-deep.
Thoughts i’d buried under-tide,
were washed away and reconciled.
And for a moment,
everything that mattered or had mattered,
seemed rather insignificant
when dissolving into sand and salt.
And for a few blissful moments,
There was happiness.
There was peace.
When staring out at endless horizons,
can we imagine what infinity feels like?
Reckless words thrown
into orbit,
hushed by the universe;
her slow and steady summit.
My inner child is a wildflower,
salt-tolerant and tactile,
bending into forms unknown.
We’re treading water.
I’m lived in, I’m outgrown.
Learning to find solace
in the wild of changing things.
Like crabs tracing steady lines,
they keep their quiet course
and I find mine.
